About GearGopher

What it is

GearGopher helps you build backpacking gear lists. Keep your equipment in a personal garage, pull items into trip lists, and see pack weight broken down by base, worn, and consumable gear.

Features

• Gear garage — Catalog your equipment with categories, weights, and notes.
• Trips — Build a list for each trip; start blank or by importing CSV.
• Import from LighterPack — Paste a LighterPack share link, or export as CSV (from LighterPack or any spreadsheet), and import it into your gear garage or a trip — free, no subscription required.
• Export and print — Take your gear list back out as CSV whenever you want, or print a checklist to carry on the trail. Export is free, like everything else here — your data is never held hostage.
• Weight totals — Line weights and roll-ups by base, worn, and consumable classification.
• Pack review — A second opinion on a trip list: likely gaps, duplicates, and quantities that look off. Free, like the rest.
• Trip details — Optional trip metadata to keep context with each list.
• Your account — Your gear garage stays private. Trip lists are private by default; you can share a list with a Sharable link, or publish it as a public page that search engines can index.

Pack review

Once a trip has gear on it, GearGopher can give the list a second opinion: what looks missing for the trip you described, what you have doubled up, and where quantities or food weight look off for the number of days.

How it works matters more than that it exists. The items it flags are chosen by rules checked against a gear catalog we curate by hand. The language model only writes the short summary paragraph, and it is not allowed to add, remove, or invent an item. That makes the review narrower than some. It also means it cannot confidently tell you to pack something that does not exist.

It is still new. While GearGopher is getting started, a real person checks each list against the catalog before suggestions turn on, so there is sometimes a wait before a review is ready. We would rather be slow than wrong.

Privacy

GearGopher is built for personal trip planning. Your gear garage stays private. Trip lists are private by default; you can share a list with a Sharable link that does not appear in search results, or publish a list as a public page at /trips for others to discover.

We use privacy-friendly, cookieless web analytics to count pageviews and referrers in aggregate. No tracking cookies are set and no personal data is collected.
